Forget about these baby planets. JUNO has banged the solar’s largest planet!
Oooh…That’s a bingo. Soon, NASA’s Juno will spill the beans about the Jupiter. The whole NASA’s control room got pumped when their Juno space probe entered planned orbit of Jupiter’s intense radiation belts and the dust rings after five years of journey. Hence fired its main engine to do its spooky actions to reveal the unseen.
JUNO was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on August 5, 2011 and entered Jupiter orbit with pride on July 4, 2016 at 11:18 PM. Scott Bolton is the Juno’s principal investigator is more than happy to talk about all the cool new gadgets packed into the craft.

Let’s give you a brief on Juno’s specification-
- Speed on orbit: 0.17 km/sec.
- Max speed: 265,000 km/hour.
- The probe is currently in a 53 day orbit around Jupiter.
- Juno will loop around Jupiter 37 times before ending up its life with an intentional death dive into Jupiter’s thick atmosphere in February 2018.
- It takes currently 48 minutes to send a signal from Jupiter to Earth.
- Juno is way too precious for us as it costs 1.1 billion USD.
It’s the biggest achievement for NASA yet. Do you just wonder why?
Because it’s not just another planet. It’s the massive Jupiter whose mass is 318 times that of earth. Here on earth we are nurtured with a single moon and there on this 5th planet of our solar system, it confines 67 moons. Isn’t it marvelous? Not just this, Jupiter orbits the sun once every 11.8 earth years and radiates more energy into space than it receives from the sun. It’s a bizarre! It has a great red spot which is actually a huge storm on Jupiter that has raged for at least 350 years. And that’s big enough to hold earth. It’s startling!
That’s why this is a huge stride towards advancement. You never know what you find on the gaseous planet Jupiter or on one of its major moon-Europa. Water, life, air or may be mc donalds :p haha…Stay tuned readers!
