1. Information We Collect

StudyTonight collects account details needed to run tutorials, games, and community features: email, display name, username, password hash, XP and game progress, guild and duel participation, arcade chat messages you post, and optional companion explanation preferences.

2. Cookies and Sessions

We set an HttpOnly session cookie (st_session) after you sign in. We also use browser storage for theme preference and similar UI state.

3. Study Companion (AI)

When you use the study companion, your question, page path, and relevant profile context are sent to our AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate a reply. Companion usage is limited per day per signed-in account.

4. Code Execution

Code you run in the playground or Learn by Doing courses is sent to our code execution service (Piston or a self-hosted equivalent) to compile and run. Do not paste secrets into the sandbox.

5. Analytics

We use Amplitude for product analytics. Session replay is sampled for a small share of sessions (about 5%) so we can understand usability issues. You can block analytics with browser extensions if you prefer.

6. Data Protection

We do not sell your personal information. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Contact us if you need help with account deletion or data questions.
